Life’s Biggest Questions

Mastering the game of golf is a lifelong challenge guaranteed never to be com- pleted. As soon as we think we have a handle on one part of our game, another seems to fall apart. Sometimes we come to the course full of confidence and leave with more questions than answers.

Life is full of questions too, and some of them are as big as questions can get. Where did I come from? Who am I? Is there a God? If so, what is he like? What is the meaning of life, and what happens when I die? We wonder about why we’re here and where we’re going, and if there’s any more to life than making a name for ourselves or having as much fun as we can. If we don’t know the answers to those big questions, we eventually end up wandering, searching, desperately hoping for something more, or even just filling up our lives so we don’t have to think about the questions too much. We want to know if we’re living for a purpose bigger than ourselves.

The good news is that we are. We were created with a specific design and called to fulfill a specific purpose. It’s a wonderful plan, but there’s a huge prob- lem: we have all departed from our design and fallen short of our purpose. If that seems catastrophic, you’re right. It is. It’s humanity’s greatest predicament. But that doesn’t mean it’s a hopeless situation.

Sometimes it seems hopeless. History is filled with stories of selfishness, greed, tyranny, war, bloodshed, pain, and suffering. But it’s also lined with a greater story of hope, redemption, and restoration. Your longings are true, and your purpose is there to discover. The God who holds all answers is inviting you into them even now.
