Life's Greatest Answer

To put it in golf terms, our greatest problem in life is the gap between the way God’s course was meant to be played and the way we actually play it. That gap represents two hard realities: (1) We are required to sign a perfect scorecard at the end of God’s course in order to be accepted by him; and (2) none of us has a perfect scorecard.
There is one exception, though. Jesus earned a perfect scorecard, and the good news is that God offers it to anyone who will receive it in place of their own. That requires some humility—most of us don’t want to admit how bad our scorecard looks—but it’s always a good trade. When we tear ours up by faith and accept his instead, we immediately get to have a relationship with God. At the end of life’s round, we can turn in Jesus’ perfect scorecard as if we had accomplished it ourselves and enjoy eternal life with him.
Knowing God through Christ is the answer to life’s greatest questions. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life—the way to become a child of God and live as he designed us to live, the truth about who God is and who we are, and the life that changes us from the inside out. In other words, he is everything we need, the key to finding our purpose and being fulfilled in it. Through him, we see the nature of God, we understand why we were created, we’re empowered to live as we were designed to live, and we discover our eternal destiny. He brings an end to our wandering, searching, and avoiding the big questions. He turns our frustrating game of life into the most satisfying round we’ve ever played.
Questions: Do you feel as if you’ve been trying to earn a perfect scorecard in life? If so, what has that experience been like? How successful do you think you’ve been? What are the implications of Jesus’ gift of a perfect scorecard How do you think it might change the way you approach your life?
